Motorbike taxis are quick but risky in Kampala traffic. Ride-hailing cars or a hired driver are safer for touring.
The airport, the botanical gardens and the lake are at Entebbe, about 40 km south, often used as a calmer base.

Is Kampala safe?
It is generally calm for visitors. The main risks are traffic, boda-boda accidents and petty theft in crowds. Use cars, not motorbikes, for touring.

Should I stay in Kampala or Entebbe?
Entebbe is quieter and closer to the airport; Kampala is more central for the city sights. Many visitors use Entebbe for arrival and departure nights.
